MUST ARRIVE TO ABU DHABI OCTOBER 10THÂ
Day 1: Arrive in Socotra Hadiboh Arher beach
Arher, which is a meeting point of fresh water from the mountain and salt water from the ocean. Arher is also home to another magnificent sand dune. If you are feeling especially fit, you can climb the dunes for a view that is truly worth the effort.. The remainder of the day is for swimming and exploration of this location. Dinner and overnight camp at Arher.
Day 2: Hug cave Arsel beach and back to Arher beach
Today, we make an early start and drive to the base of Huq cave and make our way up towards the cave entrance by foot. The cave itself is 2.5 kilometres long and holds a wealth of Socotri history. Inside, we can find stalactites, stalagmites and a rim pool.
Then, after lunch drive to Arsel beach swim in the sea and in the evening drive back to Arher beach dinner and overnight in Arher beach.
Day 3 Dihamri marine protected area and Homil protected area
In the morning, drive to marine protected area of Dihamri, which is home to one of the richest coral reefs of the archipelago. There are many marine animals to be seen whilst swimming/snorkelling include: Parrotfish, Sea urchins, etc. We would like to remind people not to touch the corals in the marine protected area as this would cause irreversible damage. Then, we make our way to Homhil protected area, taking in the fabulous sceneries of deep ravines and plains along the way. Once at Homhil, we can walk a selection of trails, one of which takes us to a viewpoint where there is a natural pool and a view villages below on the plain and of the sea. Homhil is home to many Dragons Blood trees, the resin of which is collected, used and traded by the people of Socotra. Frankincense trees are also prevalent here and deserve a close look. Dinner and overnight homhil.
Day 4 Wadi Kaleson Zahek sand dunes and Aomak
Today, in the morning, we drive to Wadi Kaleson walking down to the swimming pools to swim and spend time there. Then, having our picnic and driving to the south part in our way. We will witness the colossal sand dunes of Hayf and Zahek, which moves by the seasonal winds of Socotra. Dinner and overnight camp at Amek beach or Zahek sand dunes camping in Aomak.
Day 5 Dagub cave Dixsam Fermhn dragoon bood forest
After a morning swim in the beach, we'll drive to Dagub cave, which overlooks a scattering of traditional villages below. The cave itself is of interest as there are many stalactites, stalagmites and small pools of water that has seeped through the rock over time.
We will have unch and then we'll make our way by a 4x4 vehicle to Dixsam plateau and Shebahon viewpoint. This area is renowned for the native Dragon Blood trees, the resin of which is collected, used and traded by the people of Socotra. The Shebahon viewpoint gives a fabulous vista overlooking Daerhu canyon where we will see unusual yet beautiful rock formations. We will then make our way down to the wadi in the canyon dinner and overnight in Fermhn dragoon blood forest.
Day 6: Oadamah beach and alansvia/Detwah Lagoon
Drive to Qalansyia. On our way, we will have lunch in Qadamah beach and then drive to the protected area of Detwah lagoon, which is renowned for its spectacular landscape. Sting rays can be seen in the lagoon, so be careful when swimming. There is also a large array of sea birds to be seen at this location dinner and overnight at Detwah beach.
Day 7: Shua'ab areaand and back to Oalansiavia detwah beach from Qalanis
We can take a boat to Shuaab area to see the dolphins playing and swim in near a very pure and clean long sandy beach. Once we arrive to Shuaab area, we can have a look on the mangrove area. Sometimes we may meet Spinner Dolphins along the way. Line fishing may also be possible from the boat.. Cormorants also frequent the area. In the late afternoon, we will take the boat ride back to Qalansyia dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Departure from Socotra
Early in the morning having breakfast and we will transfer to Socotra airport.
